Sesame Workshop, the nonprofit behind Sesame Street, is launching new resources to help families celebrate Autism Acceptance Month!

Available in both English and Spanish, these free resources help autistic kids and their families build confidence and important life skills while developing an understanding and acceptance of autism in kids and adults alike. These resources are part of the Sesame Street and Autism: See Amazing in All Children initiative and are available at sesameworkshop.com.

The new resources include Julia and Rose — Best Friends Fur-Ever, a digital and print storybook which features Julia, Sesame Street’s first character to be diagnosed with autism, as she learns to take care of her dog, Rose; three new printables that feature art and themes from the book; two new articles for parents and caregivers that focus on self-determination skills and setting goals; and the Forging Furry Friendships webinar, which will focus on how animals can help autistic kids and their families.

Beyond online resources, Sesame Workshop is also hosting events to celebrate kids with autism. At Sesame Street Land at SeaWorld Orlando, Julia will join the daily parade wearing sensory headphones to manage the noise. Busch Gardens in Williamsburg, Virginia, will host a Julia & Friends Weekend, including sensory-friendly performances of the “Let’s Play Together” show and a Julia-themed scavenger hunt. Sesame Place Philadelphia, Sesame Place San Diego, and Busch Gardens will also have Julia meet-and-greets and hand out the free storybook, We’re Amazing, 1,2,3!, to guests.

Crocs is also launching a new Sesame Street collection for preschools and toddlers featuring Julia, Elmo, Cookie Monster, and Abby Cadabby as a part of Footlocker’s “Be Seen” campaign to promote and support autism awareness and acceptance. The collection is available now at footlocker.com and kidsfootlocker.com.

Whether the kids in your life are autistic or not, these events and resources are a great way to help them understand the condition and what makes autistic kids special!
